Blank Park Zoo's Uptown Hoedown

Here was my entry for the Blank Park Zoo's uptown hoedown. Nothing beats a giraffe print with a little cowboy fringe! :)

Don't forget about Operation Bake a Cake

Here are some creations for my Operation Bake a Cake. If you are a deployed Iowa soldier and live within an hour or so of Des Moines, please contact me!

Arika and Matt's wedding cake

Here's another couple who had a destination wedding and just had their reception here in Des Moines. The bride requested a simple and elegant cake to be covered with a cascade of real stargazer lilies. The 4 tiered square cake is a mixture of white and chocolate.

Alicia and Tony's reception cake.

This was another fun wedding cake to do. The bride and groom had a destination wedding last year in Jamaica and just had their reception on Aug. 7th. Top tier is strawberry patch with cream cheese filling, middle tier is champagne with raspberry mousse, and bottom is amaretto divine with chocolate cherry ganache filling. All flowers are gumpaste and were made to match the bride's gerbera daisies.

Rough few weeks

I would like to thank my clients who have been so understanding and supportive these past few weeks. While I was on vacation back home in Kentucky to visit family, my 21 year old nephew was involved in a terrible accident where he was struck by a car and lost his left leg. I spent several weeks down in Kentucky in July and also August. I've tried to answer all emails and phone calls as I could. So, if you didn't hear from me, please accept my apologies.

Dora the Explorer at the beach - another 3D

I thought this cake would be very challenging in figuring out how to prop up Dora's head, but with the help of my husband, I got it figured out! The beach ball and Dora's head are white almond and Dora's body is a white almond/chocolate marble cake. Everything is edible on this cake.

3D Storm Trooper

This was a lot easier than I expected. Who doesn't love Star Wars???? This cake is all edible and was carved to shape. It was a special Strawberry/Tahitian Vanilla combo. Very yummy and the birthday boy was extremely happy! I couldn't ask for more.
